Privacy Policy

Overview

VoiCat ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we process, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

      VoiCat does not require account registration. Your voice notes and AI results are stored locally on your device by default.
    

Data We Collect

We process only the data necessary to provide and protect the service:

Audio and text you choose to process — audio, transcripts, and text may be transmitted to Cloudflare and OpenAI to perform the transcription, translation, or summary you request. VoiCat and its Cloudflare gateway do not store copies of this audio or processed text after processing.
Local note data — your recordings, transcripts, translations, summaries, and edits are stored in the app on your device.
Service and quota data — a random app-installation identifier and a limited free-usage count are processed to enforce the free quota. For paid subscriptions, we store limited pseudonymous entitlement data, such as the original StoreKit transaction identifier, selected product or tier, entitlement expiry, allowance, and usage. This data is used only to verify subscription access and enforce quotas.
Payment information — payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment card details or Apple Account email address.

We do not ask you to create a VoiCat account, and we do not collect your name, location, or payment details for our own use. We do not use service data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

How We Process Your Audio

When you record or import audio, it is sent over encrypted HTTPS to our Cloudflare gateway and forwarded to OpenAI's API to perform the AI action you requested, such as transcription, translation, or summarization.

Audio is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
VoiCat and its Cloudflare gateway process requests in transit and do not retain audio files or processed text after processing.
Processed results are returned to your device and saved locally by the app.

OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default. Unless Zero Data Retention is enabled for our OpenAI API project, OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, subject to its policies. Local Storage

Voice notes, transcriptions, translations, summaries, and edits are stored in VoiCat on your device using Apple's local storage APIs. This data:

Is included in your iCloud backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled.
Is deleted from the app when you delete a note; removing the app also removes its local app data, subject to any device or iCloud backups you control.
Is not synced or retained by VoiCat's servers.

Subscriptions & Payments

VoiCat offers optional paid subscriptions (Pro and Max tiers) processed by Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment processing, and we never see, handle, or store your payment details. To make subscriptions work, our service verifies StoreKit entitlement information and retains the limited pseudonymous subscription and quota data described above. Third-Party Services

VoiCat uses the following third-party services:

OpenAI — AI processing (transcription, translation, summarization)
Cloudflare — Secure API gateway
Apple StoreKit — Subscription and payment processing

Your Rights

You can delete individual notes or all local notes at any time from the app's Settings. You may also contact us to ask about the limited service data associated with your installation or subscription. We will respond to applicable privacy requests, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, and entitlement-recordkeeping requirements.

Children's Privacy

VoiCat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used our app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of VoiCat after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
